How do I get them to change jobs? In one case I have a farmer that I want as a smith, and there is a smith table in front of him. If you trade with a villager, do they have to keep that job? If not, and they change jobs, do they keep that trade level? And how do you make them keep the job? It seems as though they pick a block at random though. I put them in their holding area, and put their job block in front of them. A few I have already traded with when they were a farmer. Secondly, I am trying to get jobs assigned to my villagers. How far do they need to be to release the bed? If I close off the hallway going to the other area, will that cut off the connection? It looks like the ones they bred before are still holding the beds. I moved the villagers about 50 blocks away, and thought they would breed more, but they aren't. I put 8 beds in a room with two villagers that I fed a ton of bread to, and they gave me 6 villagers. I'm trying to breed villagers and them move them to a holding area. Minecraft Map Testing: /r/MinecraftPlayTesting TL DR: Several villagers in my trading hall are locked into their professions, but can't use the job blocks I gave them because unemployed villagers (or other villagers in the same profession) adopt them first. This subreddit is still WIP, expect changes to come some time soon. I'm new to this aspect of the game so any and all information is welcome, no matter how basic. Instead, many of those job blocks were re-adopted by unemployed villagers outside of the trading hall, leaving villagers inside the trading hall without job blocks (and therefore unable to resupply their trades).ĭoes anyone have suggestions as to how I can force villagers in the trading hall to adopt the blocks in front of them (and prevent unemployed villagers from stealing them first)? Any tips about job block assignments are appreciated, even if they aren't related to the question. I thought by relocating/reusing the same job block each villager was originally assigned to, they would continue using that same block (especially because it's now the only block they have access to). I herded these villagers into their cells and moved their initial job blocks inside the trading hall, directly in front of the villager they had originally been assigned to. I built a trading hall in my village similar to this design, but I already had several villagers locked into their professions by the time the hall was built. (#spoiler) = neat!
